Five years ago we made a thousand litres of Asian Parsnip Gin, labelled and numbered the 1,428 bottles and put them on a shelf in Hugh’s shed - expecting them to stay there for some time. Instead, they sold in 48 hours.
So we made some more. And that sold out as well.
Suitably encouraged, we invented Navy Strength, American Mustard, London Drizzle and California Dreamgin’ - and suddenly five years have passed and what started as a COVID-induced bit of a lark has turned into an international gin brand.
We wanted to mark the occasion by doing something - so we’ve made a cardboard box. Not, in itself, a particularly big deal admittedly - but there are only ever going to be 500 of them. So one day they’ll be worth millions, possibly.
Inside the box you’ll find not only a bottle of our finest Asian Parsnip - the gin that started it all - but also some exclusive extras. First there’s a pack (deck, if you must) of James Gin Rummy playing cards - including instructions on how to play - and featuring some characters you may recognise. And because you’ll want to do things properly there’s also a notepad and pencil for keeping score, writing your shopping list or illustrating how a limited-slip differential works.
So - a decent bottle of gin, a pack of cards, a notepad and a pencil. In effect, everything you need for a good life - all in a handy box.
