James Gin & Tonic
DIFFICULTY
EASY
WHAT'S IN IT
2 oz Asian Parsnip Gin
4 oz Fever-Tree Light Tonic
Orange Wedge
HOW IT'S MADE
- Fill a glass with ice.
- Add 2 oz Asian Parsnip Gin.
- Top with tonic water and stir gently.
- Optional: Add an orange slice
WHAT IT'S LIKE
It's like a gin and tonic, obviously. This will be familiar to our UK customers, but not necessarily to those in the US, who have less cultural heritage. To cut a long story short, we invented as a way to make antimalarial quinine taste better. So think of it as a medicine.
JAMES' TASTING NOTES
Don't mess about with this. Just use light tonic and plenty of ice. The orange slice brings out the sweetness of the parsnip.

Asian Parsnip
I had an idea for a gin that is very British, using parsnip - which reminds me of dampness - combined with the spicy sparkle of the Asian spices found in Indian food. So we created the unimaginatively named Asian Parsnip - celebrating both the homely flavour of that most English of root vegetables and the gastric stimulus of spices from India.
